Once Upon A Mountain

Gabbie Llama was peckish, so she perused the Peruvian mountaintops for a nourishing nom nom. Nibbling on flavourful flowers and exotic grasses, she found a familiar leafy frond.

The marvellous Maca Plant.

This gorgeous greenery made Gabbie think of her Grandfather, Pedro. She recalled his tale of happening upon the uber-nutritious Maca while lost in the Andes. His wise words about the energy perks of this mood-boosting root and the art of Maca extraction echoed in her mind. Carefully, she wriggled and twisted the plant until it popped out. She brushed off the dirt, admired its curious contours and tuberous root and then hurried home.

From the Andes to Australia

The Maca plant sat on the kitchen table like a muse. The family passed it in their comings and goings until one day, Gabbie stopped in her tracks: ‘what if people in faraway places have never tasted Peruvian ingredients?

After months of llama-to-llama heart-to-hearts – Gabbie, her parents, José and Maria, and her brother Luca decided to spread the superfood word. Pouring over a map of the world, they hovered hooves on Peru, then followed the Pacific Ocean until they bumped into Australia.

The Superfood Fleet

In 2021, The Llama family alpaca’d their bags bound for the Great South Land.

Maria packaged their sustainable, national plant-based treasures with love and care, and they set off to nourish the wellbeing and restore the emotional balance of Australian families.

The superfood opener was the cracker, Maca, a.k.a., powdered gold. This nutrient-heavy hero helps to boost mood and magnify memory.

The next wholesome contender was raw Cacao, a guilt-free chocolate-parent powder. This superfood brings health rewards ranging from better blood flow to anti-inflammatory properties.

Third, in the nutrient-rich range was Lucuma. Packed with powerful antioxidants, this ground fruit is a natural sweetener and does great things for gut bacteria.

Finally, Camu Camu rounded out the body-loving powders. A Vitamin C powerhouse, this pulverised sour berry promotes a no stress, no-prob-llama life.

A Nutritious Journey

From Broome and Bairnsdale to Bundaberg and Bunbury, the Llamas travelled long stretches of Australia in search of a home.

However, it was the sunny skies and friendly folk of Brissie that finally hijacked their hearts. Here, the Llamas laid their hats to share the vibrant flavours and organic goodness of South American superfoods.

The Healthy Llama helps you fuel your authentic life with authentic food.
